What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alignment tray orthodontic system. Using a series of clear, plastic aligners, you can get the smile of your dreams without worrying about the hassles of bracket and wire braces – not to mention the impact metal braces have on your appearance.
How Does Invisalign Work?
To move smiles into alignment, we need to place controlled pressure on the teeth. Invisalign uses a series of aligners to deliver this gentle pressure. Each set of aligners will be molded to represent your smile one step closer to the desired results. You’ll wear the aligner trays for about two weeks. Then, simply exchange the current set of alignment trays for the next set in the series. Every six to eight weeks, you’ll need to visit our Bend dentistry practice for a checkup to ensure your smile is shifting according to plan. These appointments are short and comfortable.
Who Should Consider Invisalign Clear Braces?
Any patients with misaligned smiles may want to consider receiving treatment with Invisalign, but those who could most benefit from Invisalign orthodontics include:
- Patients whose busy schedules make regular orthodontic visits impossible
- Those who want to preserve their image during treatment
- Patients who have allergies or sensitivities to metal
How Long Does Invisalign Treatment last?
Your individual treatment plan will depend on your smile’s current position and desired end result. However, most patients achieve their ideal tooth positioning in eight to eighteen months. With fewer appointments throughout treatment, patients save significant time using Invisalign clear braces rather than traditional orthodontic options.
Do I Have to Wear a Retainer?
No matter what orthodontic solution you choose, you’ll need to wear a retainer. Following your smile’s shift into its new alignment, the supportive bone and gum tissue need to reattach to the tooth roots to prevent them from moving back out of alignment. The retainer holds your smile in its new position as the supportive tissues reattach. Luckily, we can usually provide clear retainers that look like your Invisalign aligners.
How Much Does Invisalign Cost?
The cost of Invisalign will vary based on the extent of your individual treatment plan. However, most treatments are close to what you would expect to pay for traditional bracket and wire braces. Additionally, many dental insurance providers now pay for a percentage of the cost of Invisalign, which further decreases your out of pocket treatment costs.
