Frequently Asked Dentistry Questions
Do you offer adult braces?
Yes! Ponderosa Dental Center is pleased to offer patients Invisalign. It’s an increasingly-popular treatment that uses clear, plastic aligners to gradually shift the teeth into their proper position. Invisalign is a comfortable, convenient, and discreet alternative to traditional braces.
I’m afraid of visiting the dentist! How will you make me comfortable?
We totally understand why dental fears develop. And the truth is, we don’t really like being on the receiving end of dentistry, either. Dr. Prentice and our team make our patients feel comfortable by taking a gentle, relaxed approach — and we also offer sedation dentistry for your total relaxation.
Am I a candidate for dental implants?
Many adults are eligible for implant dentistry. If you are in good overall health and haven’t been dealing with missing teeth for very long, chances are good the answer is yes. If you’ve dealt with your tooth loss for many months or even years, however, you may have already lost significant jawbone structure. A bone graft or sinus lift may be necessary before you can get your dental implants. We will evaluate your oral and overall health to determine whether or not dental implants may be right for you. If they are, we can get started right away.
Do root canals really hurt?
Somewhere along the way, root canals, or endodontic therapy, picked up the reputation for being extremely painful. But with current options in sedation, anesthesia, and our expert approach, there is nothing to fear from a modern root canal. It’s usually the pain leading up to the treatment, not the treatment itself that really hurts.
